DST

Daylight Savings Time..

Takes me a while to get with the program..

One thing I do like though is that we get to eat dinner in light..
so I can snap a pic here and there..
pasta has been up front  lol as you can see..

Carbonara..and Penne w/ rapini and bacon..actually both have bacon..lol..so bacon figures big time too..
We love rapini..and this dish is a staple here..carbonara..I think it had been at least 1 yr since I made it last..anyway..see that bread?

That's my friend Susan's recipe.

I love it..I made single..and would not hesitate to make individual ones..in fact I will:)

this bread  ..is layer after layer of..well maybe like a "GRANDS"?

I had some once and maybe I am wrong but this bread reminds me of that..pillowy puffs of bread..garlic..butter..and look at the color:)

Easy peasy I did what she did..bread machine..we both have the same one:)
You just pull apart the delicious layers..and you know what? Jacques toasted some pieces to eat w/ Frédérick's bouillabaisse..and he loved it..
it's a win win bread.
And cute.

A sweet surprise of pretty seed packets arrived in the mail..I'll be potting those up tomorrow I think..thank you so much Terry...
we had a lot of snow again yesterday..and everything had thick sifted icing sugar everywhere..
I organized my craft room yet again..and we are celebrating Jacques' birthday weekend..in fact it's Susan's bday today..Jacques' was yesterday!
Hope you are all having a nice weekend..

PS Look how cute this is..Jeanie made it.
And look..look how darn cute for Mother's Day..  Susan Branch's crown..

So many cute ideas everywhere.

Happy Birthday Susan!!

  2. Oh, I love carbonera! That looks so yummy. And I love DST too -- I wish it was this way all year long. I don't care how dark the morning is but I love the late light!

The bread looks and sounds fabulous. I'll have to pass it on to the resident breadmaker! And your seed packets are so pretty. Almost too pretty to plant but I would and bet you will, too!

Tell Jacques a very happy birthday and thanks for featuring my banner! Surprised and delighted! (I loved that sweet crown, too!)

  3. Thank you, Monique ♥ Please tell Jacques Happy Belated Birthday from me! At the baby shower today, the dad-to-be is a birthday boy today also :) Your pasta and the bread are a match made in Heaven and your bread turned out beautifully! I know I will make this again and again. I love Jacques' idea of toasting it! What a sweet gift from Terry. I should try calendula again. I love those sweet flowers ♥

  4. Carbonara is a fav of mine, but I don't make it. That bread is so pretty and I bet very good too. Tell Jacques a lady all the way from Oklahoma says happy birthday. My seedlings are getting so big I need to repot them if they don't go outside soon.

  5. Yes, Happy belated birthday to Jacques! In the Hamptons it is shades of brown. We didn't get all of the snow that came to the city last week. Love your seed packets. The bread looks amazing -- Your pasta looks relish. I was in Boston this week and had dinner at Lucca in the North End. Appetizer was risotto with lobster, bacon, haricot vert, to name a few of the ingredients.... very yum. I don't usually decorate for Easter but that banner is an inspiration!

  7. How scrumptious! Especially love that pull apart loaf!

Honestly, I don't get the day light saving time thing! LOL...I once heard that it's not really "saving" anything! hahaha...well, but it's certainly nice to still have day light during dinner hours. That's about it! ;)

  8. I'm happy the seed arrived. Going between countries can be tricky. Hope you have great success with them. I believe Hudson Valley Seed is having sales and they ship to Canada. You might want to see what else they have that you might "need" (sort of like "needing" another cookie stamp!). Best wishes to Jacques. I know the cake will be great and the company of all the family even better.

I love Daylight Savings Time and I wish it stayed this way all year long... light in the evenings (of course a good part of that is due to longer days... which I love). Oh, your meal looks divine, Monique! Pasta and bread. YUM! Hope you have a wonderful week. blessings ~ tanna

    1. Hi Karen..Susan and I lucked out a few years back..I had a huge machine.. and a broken one..I happened to findthis small Sunbeam one for $30 some odd dollars and so did Susan..it is top rated..almost 5 full stars from over 1700 reviewers..
      you certainly don't need the machine..but I can't see myself w/out one..
maybe you should give it a try?:)

  20. I noticed the bread right away! I don't have a bread machine but I do love to make it the traditional way once in a while. I'm going to look at the link. There was an Italian restaurant in Chicago years ago that served bread sliced, but not all the way through. Inserted in each cut was several types of cheese. It was reheated in an oven just until the cheese melted. Heavenly. Your picture reminded me of this.

    Happy Birthday to Jacques!
