Here..there..and everywhere...~ Violets~ Apple Blossoms~Lilacs~

Max goes to French school so forgive the spelling..:)
I guess he figured he or she was English;)

"I wonder how you slip under my pillow~just like that"

Oh Max..I love that sentence.
Her response..below..

Oh to be a little again and feel so special and loved ..

Making violet bouquets♥
Lilac bouquets
LOTV bouquets.

May..and this is the last day..it flew by..Does March fly by?

Admiring every single apple tree that bloomed and is still blooming~~

I started the second veggie patch..

it will be THE garlic patch ..

but right now my garlic is growing in two other gardens..

so this year..some lettuce..radishes .. beets ,basil,cherry tomatoes..all will grow  in Mathilde's garden.

I asked Jacques to make an x~form for me to make Mathilde..so she could frighten the squirrels away:)

In this garden..until garlic is the only thing planted ..

Mathilde is sporting a long skirt I have not worn in years..a jean shirt that has seen way better days..but I loved it so much I wore it out..and a gardening hat..she has to be protected from the sun~

In the kitchen..

Sometimes you do not need to use the KA..some recipes are small..to make cute small things..so then you bring out the hand mixer..
I had ..have one..that even on the lowest speed..in a deep bowl..it's dangerous..it beats so fast ingredients fly out..
My daughter spotted this very cheap one but found it so cute and vintagey..I asked the salesperson if we could plug it in..at last..something that's cute and not a weapon:)

For 9 tarts..I only needed 1 egg white..my KA can't beat just one egg white..the depth I think..
Mamina's recipe says it makes 6..for these I used my mini silicone mold..and the cavities are smaller than on the metal ones..so the recipe made 9.
It's a good little crust..Mamina filled hers w/ mascarpone and decorated w/ strawberries..I had some lemon curd I wanted to use..so I made mini meringue pies/tarts..
so cute.
Then Jacques isn't facing a large lemon meringue pie all week;)
I baked mine ap 20 minutes..not the 7-8 that Mamina did because I was fully baking mine..she re~inserts hers into the oven once filled. There was no need for me to do that..
It's a versatile little recipe..yum yum..

La Recette~ Courtesy of Mamina.

6o grams softened butter
25grams icing sugar
a tiny pinch of fleur de sel
1/4 tsp of vanilla powder
10 grams egg white
65 grams of flour..I may have put 70;)

Cream the butter ,add icing sugar and blend..,add salt, vanilla powder and egg white..add flour.
Put a little ball of dough in each mini muffin tin and use a moistened finger to pat the dough evenly bottom and sides..(I used my wood lemon juicer..floured).
Bake in a pre-heated 350 F oven for ap 20 minutes..keep an eye on them.
If you are going to fill w/ a cheese filling that you bake..bake 7-8 minutes..fill..then bake till set.
Let cool and remove from mold.
Fill w/ lemon curd..top w/ meringue..I used my small crème brulée blow torch to color the meringue.

Enjoy..these would be nice under an apple tree w/ a nice glass of ice tea~
So beautiful this past week!

The date squares are Ricardo's this time..if you make..mine took under 30 minutes to be fully baked..so keep an eye on them instead of setting the timer for 55 minutes and walking away~
Delish!

Thought I would add my top shelf/left in my fridge..my fave spot..

Son-in-law..s... eggs..crème fraiche..my favorite petits pots yogurts..and fave petit pot beurre..
this company has created a little gold mine I think..it has been around for a long long time..but recently all these petits pots  have appeared in perfectly pretty packaging..good for them.
Finding more lids led me to a Metro..and now I have at least 12 more lids pour mes petits pots:)♥
I had bought 12 through someone previously..

I see a collection happening..
the yogurts I have mentioned before..I love the consistency..the butter?
YUM.
They have unsalted and salted..I love salt..
It is so good! Fleur de sel salty:)

They have many goat's milk products etc..
If you can get your hands on these products..well they have my 100% seal of approval~

I use a Ball jar from my friend  Linda to keep the mayo..turquoise also:)Turquoise..love it in a kitchen.♥

May~ June..busy busy in the gardens..
Front and back gardens need tutoring..tutelage..TLC..
The Alliums are lovely ...little exclamation marks in front and back..the garlic..a different allium..look!
Alain brought manure..like fresh flowers to me:)
Forgive the peony hoops..but that bed needs them..
Centaurea  Montana (perennial cornflower)is at it's best..
Iris starting to POP♥
I love our gardens. Some are not aging well at all..but still I love them...and I feel Alain's manutre will help a lot.

I enjoy being  able to nurture things and watch them grow.

Enjoy this beautiful time of the year~
In a garden..on a terrasse..w/ just a flower box or a few pots..or larger gardens..take time to notice everything..it's a powerful optimism booster....free.

  2. Yes Monique, your photos say it all. Much beauty in your home and garden. I save those pots too but not sure what to do with them. I brought a little clay pot that held yogurt back from Paris and use it to hold pens. Beautiful June days ahead. I watched a film yesterday about Quebec City and Montreal. What beautiful cities they are. I used to always have scarecrows in white dresses, they never worked but made me happy.

QC and Mtl are beautiful..very European in flavor..I have Pinterest boards on them and Paris..I am new to Instagram and follow some Mtl photographers that specialize in capturing Mtl moments and it makes me very proud..It is quite beautiful..I pin them all:)

QC also..I am sure every city has it's charm..it's what you see.

  6. Hey Monique. Love your flower garden. Looks like the garden fairy exploded, there. Lol! Speaking of gardens, is that your potting shed? Oh, I love it! And then, speaking of fairies, I loved the card the Tooth Fairy left for Max. Genius! And his question to the TF, asking if he/she were a girl or boy, cracked me up. Don't they say the cutest things? Loved your watercolor, too. You've rekindled my love of painting. I never used water colors before, but now I'm trying them. The technique is really different. Takes lots of practice! Have a great week!!

    1. She did! It happens in a heartbeat here..and leaves us the same way..but with LOTS of putting to sleep care..It is our potting shed..Jacques has a back section..for tractor..mowers..workbench and I have the front for potting and storing etc..
I tried a continuous line painting this morning of my cobalt pots on the deck..fun and messy..
the above..was painted on writing paper..you don't get the grooves and the paper wrinkles..but I love my book..more for garden notes..;)

      You too!!

  8. I don't know if I told you that I got to play Tooth Fairy for Mack the last time they stayed overnightl Glad he fell asleep quickly :) I love Max put lines for the Tooth Fairy to answer - so cute! I love all of your garden views. See, you catch up so quickly! I love how green everything is right now, even the prolific weeds. I Mathilde does her job. My garlic looks just like yours! When do the scapes start? I keep looking every day :) I love your yogurt and now butter containers. Wish we could find them here! I've never checked Whole Foods - maybe there? Had to smile at your story about the mixer - mine does the same thing and I have to very careful when I first turn it on. Glad you found a docile one :) The wee tarts and date bars sound wonderful! I tried a new date cake recipe recently, kind of plain but I liked it. There is nothing like manure in a vegetable garden. My parents always used it. We have loads of compost delivered that our Village makes over the winter from the fall leaf pick up. Good stuff! Has quite a scent of it's own from the rotted leaves ;)

  9. Max's tooth was pulled out by his friend at school ..
    you know me..

    I went..omg Max..

anyway he kept the tooth because he knows the fairy is generous.

I am making creme fraiche in some as I type..the company sells it..but now that i know how and have jars..I am expanding my cute prep area:)

My mixer..I would not even give it away it is so dangerous..the old one..my harvest gold one worked fine..why did I ever upgrade? LOL..
    But now turquoise works..
So what do tooth fairies leave in Wisconsin?:)
I say YOU start a cute jar yogurt company in the USA..be the first!!

Then remember me when you are super rich and famous please.:)
    I like plain cakes.
I love chicken poop scent..healthy for my gardens:) !:)

    2. The TF leaves a dollar bill in exchange for a tooth :) The was the amount chosen by his parents. Mack was hoping for 2 dollars - LOL. Max is so brave to let a friend pull out his tooth! This whole last week it has been warm and lovely here also. The warmth put a quick end to LOTV and early irises :( Rain this morning. I like plain cakes too!

  10. Beautiful time of year, indeed! You live among so much beauty, Monique. I'm in awe of the apple blossoms and all the other gorgeous blooms in your garden. The tooth fairy notes are adorable. I'm still giggling. I love that even though SHE was so busy, she took time to leave a note and to answer the questions.
Mathilde sounds like a lovely girl. Do we get to see her? Happy gardening, my friend. So enjoyed this post to honor the end of May.

  13. I love Max's tooth fairy note. Gerarda was afraid of her coming into her room so we left the tooth downstairs in her tooth fairy pillow. I said I would call the tooth fairy to let her know where to find it. She then wanted to call the tooth fairy and talk to her! I said I could not give her that telephone number till she was a mommy. Some things you never forget! The gardens look wonderful Monique. My Siberian iris are in bloom and peonies are starting to open. That line of butter, yogart, etc are adorable. They don't sell here or I too would be collecting those cute jars.

  16. I planted the seedlings..have to tell you it self seeds..had to pull up so many..but they are a breeze to remove..no underground runners..perennial spinach did reseed but I have empty spots and I can't find my seeds!
No more indoor sprouting for me..I nurtured basil.. ..tomatoes..for weeks..direct sowing..takes so little time to sprout..weather has been vaca weather, sublime!
