Miss Kitty~aka Hello Kitty:-)

I truly think sometimes I bake just to be happier~ I do..I enjoy being in the kitchen..creating..Especially Saturday..the sun finally came out..the white snow..the blue sky..our sunny kitchen..
Noah was coming for a sleepover with his big sister Giuliana..I had promised him I would make special cookies..
He had been to the Pantomime of Puss N Boots yesterday with his mommy..cousins and aunt..so these aren't that far fetched:) I mostly took the occasion of a girl sleeping over to make these cute cute cookies..G is probably too grown up for them..but..I thought if I think they are cute..maybe she would too:)

I first saw similar cutters at Hungry at Midnight:)..  I love that blog..remember the present cookies?
Same cuteness..same blog~
I searched the net and found some..and sure enough they were delivered while we were in Florida~
Came home and it was tree trimming..Christmas baking time..so the cutter waited patiently until I was ready~

I smiled making them..baking them..assembling them:)
I used a past favored sugar cookie recipe I had from none other than beautiful Sol~
If you have never been to her blog..give yourself a present and go..right now:)

She bakes and cooks and photographs beautifully..
I think I am so lucky to be able to peruse such gorgeous blogs and learn so much~

This is the recipe Sol shared.. years ago..~

La Recette~

2 1/4 cups AP flour
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup granulated sugar
12 tbsps unsalted butter softened
1 large egg
1 tbsp finely grated lemon zest
1 tsp vanilla extract

Cream the sugar and butter together until fluffy~
Add the egg, lemon zest and vanilla extract and beat until blended~
In another bowl..combine the remaining dry ings..(flour and salt)~
On low speed gradually add to the butter mixture until combined..~
Press the dough into a flat disk and wrap in cling~
Refrigerate at least 2 hours..

  That's when I did this..

I am so not good..but it's a beginning..:) It's just that neck warmer..~I only remember how to start..knit..purl..and I hope castoff!:)On verra bien~

Then~
Roll out to 1/8 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.~
Cut out and bake ap 8-12 mins  (I did at 350F)~
For even baking rotate the cookie sheet half time~
My note
After cutting out..I stuck my cookie sheet in the freezer for a few minutes..I always do now..to keep the shape ..Maybe I did not need to..But I do~.

Anyways..these made me feel childlike to bake..So thanks to both blogs..to the person that sold me the cutter..to the sun shining..and to two cute  kids:)

Not really Puss N Boots:) ~He assured me of it when he saw them..but liked them:-)
G did too and had the cutest T-shirt..Keep Calm And Eat A Cupcake:-)
Adamo came too..A full house:-)
Love the Hello Kitty face..
Today ..Sunday..is a very different day..
Grey..but snowy and winterwonderylandy..
Fire's going..Guiness stew in the oven..
Huge  waffles for breakfast..not for me....but they did look pretty delish..:-)
Noah had 2:)
P.S.
Thumbs up for Sol's cookies..the lemon did it..and that face:-)

PPSS~

the little dots..are..vanilla bean paste dots:)

  2. They are so cute!!! And your knitting looks wonderful! I am working on some leg warmers. Which right now is a leg warmer that would barely keep my ankles warm.

  3. I felt like that about my neck warmer..I had to Google to find out how to cast off..
Oh to be able to do it well:) I think I need lessons:)

Giuliana said if one does not get far enough..one can make a keychain..I love an 11 yr old mind.
Looking forward to seeing your leg warmers Pam:)

  6. Cute, cute, cute. You are clearly "a pro" and a connaisseuse, Nana. Now tell me: Have you ever encountered a French Bulldog cookie cutter? I would love, love, to get my hands on one! Let me know, ok? Merci beaucoup, Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

  7. They are adorable. I gave my sister 3-D cutters this fall for Halloween characters. I don't think she has ventured into using them just yet. Her grands are all still preschool age and a bit young. But someday soon. Such a clever idea..........Yours are darling!

  9. I have a neck warmer in my 'things to crochet list' :) Lovely yarn! I have to return a yarn I bought for mine - too scratchy :(

Somehow, I don't see Hello Kitty cookies in my future - but you never know! I love these - so adorable. My girls had lots of Hello Kitty things ;)

  12. Those made me smile, Monique. They are ageless. And your photos are adorable, showing the kitties off to perfection.
I haven't done any knitting since high school!! And those mandatory argyle socks we all had to make. Probably way too long ago for you to know what I'm talking about!

  13. Love argyle Barbara..wouldn't know where to start to knit a sock let alone the pattern:)

  15. Thank you Monique for your comments on my post 'New year, New Thoughts' & passing on advise from your years of knowledge in this field. I really appreciate that. It's good to know I'm on the right track. The decluttering will be the hardest as I'm a big hoarder.
Love your kitty biscuits, you really must love baking to find the time to bake so many things. Saw that you had a Guiness stew in the oven, I love to make that, then put it in individual terracotta dish's with a pastry crust on top looks great when served on a plate.

  19. Leave it to you, Monique, to find the cutest little cookie cutters. I wish I knew how to knit but I don't have what it takes to go through the learning process. Simple crochet is as far as I go.

  20. I would love to simple crochet..
Thanks..you're all so very nice :-)

  21. I think you do bake just for pure happiness! Your photos bring me happiness too. These are so adorable. I know some little granddaughters who would love these. I am such a cookie fiend that I don't make them as often as I don't have a shut off button when I am eating cookies. Now chocolates, or rich desserts, I can have a little and be satisfied, but not cookies, or homemade bread either!

I have always used Shutterfly too and I use Blog 2 Print for my blog, but gave Costco a try and they were wonderful. I think each has its benefits.

  22. Absolutely adorable...they will bring out the child in all of us.

  23. Monique those are just adorable! I love them. I wish I had some kiddos nearby that I could do something like this for. I can just imagine how much fun it was to share these with your grandchildren. As always beautifully presented! Love and hugs to you my dear friend. Thanks for the gentle and sweet spirit you always share with us. xxoo

  24. Bonjour,
Tu as un très joli blog.
C'est vraiment très dommage que je parle pas anglais.........
    Comment pourrait on traduire??
    Félicitations!

    Have a lovely weekend everyone~
